The Robotic Assisted Microsurgical and Endoscopic Society (RAMSES) is a non-profit organization dedicated to sharing innovations in microsurgery. RAMSES hosts conferences around the world for experts in urology, plastic surgery, neurosurgery, and other medical specializations to stay up to date on best practices and new developments. Doctors from The PUR Clinic are among the participants who regularly make use of this opportunity to learn about the latest innovations in microsurgery.
What is RAMSES?
The RAMSES Conference is focused on making sure that platforms assisted by robotics are developed effectively and safely. Apart from their annual conferences, courses are also held to help surgeons broaden their knowledge and skill in suturing and other aspects of microsurgery. Evidence is used to guide every innovation that takes place in the field to ensure that patients can receive the maximum benefit from their microsurgery. The medical society has addressed issues such as robotic vasectomy reversal and hand nerve surgery during previous conferences.
Microsurgery and The PUR Clinic
Microsurgery has made it possible for physicians to help their patients with complex problems in plastic surgery and orthopedics. Surgical teams in these areas can accurately transfer tissue using precise surgical techniques which improve each year. The RAMSES Conference makes it easier for neurosurgeons, ophthalmologists, and other peripheral nerve surgeons to share their own experiences in microsurgery and develop the best practices that improve the success rate of delicate and higher-risk operations.
Robotic assisted microsurgery is much more accurate than operations that are done without the use of these microsurgical tools. Since the 1920’s, doctors have used microscopes to help heal and repair areas of the human body that were hard to see in detail with the naked eye. Needles used in this type of surgery are thinner than a human hair, and, currently, doctors can even repair broken blood vessels that are smaller than 2 mm.
How is the PUR Clinic involved?
The PUR Clinic focuses on intricate surgeries related to vasectomy reversals, male fertility, and groin pain. Dr. Parekattil and Dr. Brahmbhatt have performed more than a thousand robotic microsurgeries at the clinic. The two doctors are the first practicing surgeons who did dual-fellowships in robotic surgery and microsurgery. Both physicians have also published extensively on the topic of applications of robotic surgery for men’s health.
More information on RAMSES
The RAMSES Conference has previously taken place in areas such as Orlando, Tampa, and France. The next annual meeting will be a joint meeting between the US GRADE Workshop for evidence based medicine and RAMSES from October 31-November 1, 2014 in Orlando, FL. We hope you join us as we continue to innovate for our patients!
